In 2019, the New York Financial Services Department announced that Property and Casualty prelicensing certification could now be completed using an approved online training course. Previously, New York required an in-person class for Property and Casualty certification.
Candidates must complete one of the approved prelicensing courses in order to sit for the state exam. Once the state exam is passed candidates have two years to submit an application to become a Property and Casualty Agent.
